Zhaochi Semiconductor and Xinshitong LED projects are accelerated

On March 16, new developments came from the domestic LED industry: Zhaochi Semiconductor’s Mini/Micro LED expansion project in Nanchang High-tech Zone, Jiangxi Province was officially announced, and Xinshitong Qijiang new factory also started construction simultaneously.

Announcement of Zhaochi Semiconductor Mini/Micro LED Epitaxy and Chip R&D and Manufacturing Expansion Project

On March 16, the Jiangxi Province Investment Project Online Approval Supervision Platform officially announced the "Nanchang High-tech Zone Zhaochi Semiconductor Mini/Micro LED Epitaxy and Chip R&D and Manufacturing Expansion Project", with project number 2603-360100-04-01-634469.

The project applicant is Zhaochi Semiconductor. Construction is planned to start in May 2026 and is expected to be completed in May 2028. The total investment in the project is approximately 2 billion yuan, of which equipment investment is approximately 1.5 billion yuan. The main construction content of the project is to invest in the high-tech zone to purchase 24-cavity blue-green MOCVD equipment, 20-cavity red MOCVD equipment and related supporting chip R&D and production equipment for production expansion. The new monthly LED chip production capacity will be approximately 400,000 pieces.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to the above-mentioned projects, Zhaochi Technology recently also revealed the latest progress in the construction of high-speed optical module projects and laser chip projects. Previously, Zhaochi Co., Ltd. has successively invested in the construction of an annual output of 100 million optical communication semiconductor laser chip projects (Phase I) and optical communication high-speed module and optical device projects (Phase I) through its subsidiaries Zhaochi Semiconductor and Zhaochi Optical Network.

In terms of high-speed optical modules, a clean production base of nearly 50,000 square meters has been built. 200G and below optical modules have been produced on a large scale. 400G/800G modules have completed small batch production and promoted mass production. 1.6T modules are under development. In terms of laser chips, the company has built a production line by adding equipment, and has successfully built a laser chip production line.

In addition, Zhaochi Technology has made a breakthrough in Micro LED light source chips. On March 12, the company announced that the Micro LED light source chip for Micro LED optical interconnection CPO (co-packaged optics) technology has successfully completed the research and development work and is currently in the sample verification and testing stage.

Xinshi Tongqijiang new factory started construction, and production capacity expansion is steadily advancing

On March 16, Xinshitong announced through its official video account that the construction of its new factory in Qijiang has officially started, marking a solid step in the company's production capacity expansion. Official information shows that the new factory will introduce intelligent production lines and plans to build an important intelligent display production base in the southwest region.

Xinshitong is a high-tech enterprise focusing on the field of LED display, mainly providing ODM solutions for small-pitch LED displays.

In 2023, the company's LED display core production base with a total investment of 1 billion yuan has started construction and will be promoted in three phases: the first and second phases will invest 480 million yuan to build a P0.6-P2.5 Mini LED screen production line. The first phase will be put into production in 2022, and the second phase will achieve mass production of the first production line in 2023, using COB packaging; the third phase will invest 520 million yuan to build an advanced packaging production line to support independent research and development of chips and Micro LED screen production.

In terms of cooperation, in January, the company signed an ecological strategic cooperation agreement with Philips Commercial Display, focusing on high-end commercial scenarios, carrying out customized development of Micro LED and COB products, and extending to full-link integration of professional audio-visual systems. In terms of products, at the ISLE 2026 exhibition, Xinshitong launched its first outdoor small-pitch screen. The product features include high black ratio, low power consumption and high brightness.
