On March 11, Amap announced that during the AWE 2026 exhibition, the company and the AR brand Thunderbird Innovation jointly launched the "Thunderbird Smart Life" service. This is the latest implementation result since the two parties reached strategic cooperation in May 2025. This cooperation integrates Thunderbird’s innovative AR spatial computing technology with Amap’s local life services, aiming to expand the application scenarios of AR glasses in daily life.
This service relies on the LBS Agent technology of the Amap open platform to upgrade the traditional navigation experience. The system can identify the user's fuzzy search intentions and proactively recommend itinerary planning or solutions based on location and usage habits. Relevant information is superimposed on the real field of view through AR technology, transforming the service model from simple location navigation to intelligent assisted decision-making.
In terms of local life services, the special functions of Amap have been integrated into AR devices. Taking the Thunderbird X3 Pro as an example, the system can push nearby stores based on user positioning, and directly display key information such as merchant ratings, customer unit prices, and feature labels in the field of view to help users make quick consumption decisions.
For high-frequency needs such as finding cafes or convenience stores, the nearby quick search function can mark the nearest frequently used stores in the field of view. In addition, the two parties plan to launch the glasses ordering function in the future to open up a complete closed loop from search to transaction.
In terms of navigation interaction design, Thunderbird X3 Pro introduces dual-mode navigation that combines a head-up display and a head-down sandbox. During daily walking, streamlined navigation prompts will be suspended above the field of view to reduce interference with the line of sight; when users are on complex road sections such as multi-forked roads, business districts, or urban villages and need overall planning, they can call up the 3D sand table and building models by lowering their heads to intuitively view the mapping relationship between their own position and the real road network to assist direction identification.
The launch of this new service marks the further deepening of Amap and Thunderbird innovation at the technical and application levels. In the future, the two parties plan to continue to explore innovative combinations of augmented reality, artificial intelligence and location-based services to promote AR technology to be more deeply integrated into public life.
Information shows that Thunderbird Innovation's X3 Pro was released in May last year and is Thunderbird Innovation's annual flagship AR glasses product. The glasses adopt a binocular full-color Micro LED + nano-etching optical waveguide technology solution, and apply the self-developed 0.36cc mass-produced full-color X-cube Micro LED light engine and nano-photoetching RayNeo optical waveguide technology.
