With a yield rate as high as 99.99%, LC Square achieves a breakthrough in MicroLED transfer printing technology

On February 11, Korean media Etnews reported that LC Square, a Korean company specializing in the development of Micro LED display technology and products, announced that the company has successfully developed an interposer technology that can transfer Micro LED chips with a width of only 15 microns and a length of 30 microns with a yield of 99.99%.

LC Square revealed that it ensures an excellent 4N-level yield by using high-speed laser technology to accurately identify and remove defective components on the LED wafer during the chip carrier manufacturing process, and then fill them with normal components. During this process, the chip carrier board serves as a temporary substrate and plays a key role in separating the Micro LEDs from the wafer and initially arranging them, further improving the overall yield.

According to data, LC Square was established in 2019 and is the first company established by South Korea’s Advanced Nano Wafer Center. The company's team members come from well-known units and companies such as the Korea Nanotechnology Research Institute, Samsung Electronics' semiconductor, video display, and network business departments, and Lumens.

LC Square focuses on Micro LED technology and product development, including laser-induced forward transfer technology, full-color Micro LED interlayer technology and Micro LED bonding technology.

It is worth noting that Samsung Venture Capital has participated in investing in LC Square many times. At the end of 2022, Samsung Venture Capital invested 6 billion won in LC Square. In 2023, Samsung Venture Capital and other companies participated in LC Square's Series B financing, investing 16.6 billion won in it.
