Samsung XR headset may be equipped with 1.3-inch, 3800ppi Micro OLED display

Samsung first showed off its XR headset, codenamed "Project Moohan", at the Unpacked launch event in January this year. As a strong competitor of Apple's Vision Pro, when this product will be released has attracted much attention.

TheElec reported on the 6th that Samsung plans to use a 1.3-inch display with a resolution of up to 3800 pixels per inch on "Project Moohan", which is higher than Apple's Vision Pro.

According to TheElec, its display will use silicon-based OLED technology; component suppliers for the Samsung XR head display will begin mass production next month; the head display is expected to be officially launched in the second half of this year, and is expected to ship up to about 100,000 units.

Sony has demonstrated a 4K resolution, 1.3-inch OLEDoS sample in 2023, priced at 150,000 yen. TheElec believes the sample may have similar specifications to displays supplied to Samsung.

At the same time, Apple is also preparing an "affordable version" of Vision Pro. For this new model, Apple plans to use Micro OLED with a glass substrate instead of OLEDoS. The company is negotiating with Samsung Display and JDI to cooperate in developing a 2-inch, 1500ppi resolution display.
