According to Taiwan's "China Times" report, Taiwan's economic authorities announced the 2030 "Energy Saving Strategy" goals on September 21. In terms of people's livelihood, energy-saving light bulbs will be eliminated by 2025 and all LED lights will be sold. The energy consumption benchmark of air conditioners and refrigerators has been raised from Level 5 to Level 3, and fixed-frequency air conditioners have been eliminated. In terms of industry and commerce, the electricity saving target for large households has been raised from the current 1% per year to 1.2% to 2% depending on the industry, striving to save 35.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity by 2030.
In terms of residential energy conservation, 100% of commercially available light bulbs will be LED lamps in 2025, the excise tax rebate for high-efficiency home appliances will be extended, and the Minimum Energy Efficiency Standard (MEPS) for air conditioners and refrigerators will be raised from the current Level 5 benchmark to Level 3 in 2030.
Relevant personnel explained that the energy efficiency benchmark of lamp tubes will be improved in 2024. There are still 2 to 3 lamps on the market that will become energy-saving light bulbs. By then, the production of energy-saving light bulbs will be discontinued.
In terms of industrial energy conservation, large industrial and commercial energy users must save an average of 1% of electricity every year in the 10 years to 2023. The new system plans to increase the annual energy saving to 1.2% to 2% starting from 2024 according to the industry. Engines, which account for 70% of industrial power consumption, must fully meet the international energy efficiency standard IE4 by 2030, which will save 1.5% more energy than the current IE3. This also means that major manufacturers need to invest more in more efficient engines, air compressors and other equipment.
In addition, for residential energy conservation, a building energy efficiency assessment and labeling system needs to be developed; in terms of transportation energy conservation, it is planned to increase the overall new vehicle energy efficiency standard by 30% by 2030; in terms of commercial energy conservation, the expansion
Air conditioners with energy efficiency level 1 are widely used.
