1.038 billion, South Korea's leading semiconductor blank mask signed contract with Suzhou

On March 8, S&S TECH signed a contract to build a flat-panel display blank mask R&D and production base project in Suzhou.

S&S TECH plans to invest US$150 million to build a flat-panel display blank mask R&D and production base in Suzhou Industrial Park. After the project reaches production, total sales are expected to reach US$900 million in the next five years.

It is reported that blank masks are the main raw materials for photomasks and can be used in semiconductors and displays. S&S Tech focuses on manufacturing and selling blank masks for the production of semiconductors, flat panel displays, color filters, etc., and is the leading company in the field of semiconductor blank masks in South Korea.

It is worth mentioning that there are also new developments in China this year in the field of photomasks, downstream of blank masks. The Luwei Optoelectronics high-generation high-precision photomask production base project in Xiamen has achieved phased construction results. The three main factories have been fully capped in January this year and have entered the internal decoration and electromechanical installation stages.

According to reports, the project plans to invest a total of 2 billion yuan, and plans to build 11 high-end photomask production lines, focusing on the research and development and production of high-precision photomasks for G8.6 and below AMOLED/LTPO/LTPS/FMM. The project will lay its foundation in July 2025.

The project will adopt a strategy of phased construction and step-by-step production. In the early stage, five production lines will be built first. According to the current construction progress, it is expected that the project will usher in the official move-in of core equipment in the first half of this year, and the trial production target will be achieved by the middle of this year.
