SID2025|Wogel Optoelectronics newly upgraded glass-based Mini LED backlight, injecting new vitality into new displays

From May 13 to 15, 2025, at the International Display Week (SID) exhibition that attracts the attention of the global display industry, Vogel Optoelectronics will make a stunning appearance with a variety of innovative products and the latest glass-based technology with "glass-based technology" as the core. This exhibition is not only a concentrated display of Wogel's technical strength in the Mini/Micro LED field, but also announces to the industry the acceleration of the industrialization process of glass-based products in the new display field through the world's first display of a 32-inch glass-based Mini LED display with a thickness of only 6mm.

Technological breakthrough: Glass-based Mini LED reshapes the industry benchmark

The 32-inch glass-based Mini LED display unit on display this time embodies a number of core technologies of Vogel Optoelectronics. It is an important symbol of Vogel's evolution from R&D and manufacturing of single glass substrates to complete sets of modules and complete machine solutions. It will bring major opportunities to downstream brand customers in product upgrades. The advantages of WOG's mature, full-industry-chain glass-based Mini LED solution are mainly reflected in the following aspects:

Extremely thin and light:

The thickness of the display made of glass is only 6mm (excluding TP, 4.47mm), setting a new record for thinness and lightness of Mini LED displays, and becoming a key breakthrough in benchmarking OLED's morphological advantages.

Visual innovation:

Using precise light source dynamic dimming and 0OD (zero optical distance) technology to achieve ultra-high contrast and halo-free effects, the picture quality is comparable to OLED.

Structural innovation:
The transparent glass back panel design combined with dynamic light-transmitting film technology allows the back of the monitor to display the rhythm of light and shadow simultaneously with the screen, combining sci-fi aesthetics and interactive experience.

Performance upgrade:

Relying on the high flatness and heat dissipation of the glass-based backlight, the product life is extended by 30% compared with the traditional solution, the mass production yield is increased to more than 95%, and the overall cost is more than 20% lower than OLED.

It is worth noting that this product extends glass-based technology from "backlight module" to the field of complete machine integration for the first time, marking a significant improvement in Vogel Optoelectronics' supply capabilities from a core material supplier to a system-level solution provider.

Acceleration of industrialization: cooperation ecology and production capacity expansion simultaneously

Since the beginning of 2025, the industrialization process of Woge Optoelectronics' glass-based technology has accelerated significantly.

Cooperation with leading brands is accelerating. The glass-based Mini LED flagship product "Dasheng G9" jointly launched with Hisense has been a hot seller since its launch, quickly becoming the TOP1 of similar products, verifying the market's recognition of high-zoning glass-based display solutions.

And Vogel is also constantly improving its production capacity layout. The first phase of the wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangxi Dehong's 5 million square meter glass substrate project with an annual production capacity of 1 million square meters has been put into production in the second half of 2024, providing support for subsequent large-size glass substrate applications such as automotive and TV.

In addition, thanks to a more forward-looking layout, Vogel has also demonstrated strong R&D capabilities in glass-based cross-field technology collaboration. For example, through the TGV (through glass via) technology of its wholly-owned subsidiary Hubei Tongge Micro, it has expanded the application of glass substrates to advanced semiconductor packaging, optical communication modules and other fields, forming a "display + semiconductor" two-wheel drive business pattern, further consolidating Vogel's leading position in the glass-based industry chain.

Industry Outlook: The integration of industrial chain technologies creates new opportunities in the display field

As the penetration rate of Mini LED backlights in displays, vehicles, TVs and other scenarios continues to increase, glass-based technology is becoming a better choice than PCB-based technology due to its performance and cost advantages. By continuing to develop its glass-based microcircuit precision processing capabilities (such as 3-6 μm line width and line spacing, through-hole aperture limit of 3 μm, and 6-8 μm copper thickness process), Wogo Optoelectronics has built a full chain of technical barriers covering "substrate processing → mass transfer → module integration".

Industry analysts believe that the large-scale application of glass-based Mini LED will promote Three major changes in the display industry:

Product form: Ultra-thin and transparent design opens up new interactive possibilities for consumer electronics.

Industrial chain reconstruction: Glass substrate manufacturers and panel companies have shifted from "supply relationship" to "joint development" model, and the value of the ecological chain has become more prominent.

Technology integration: TGV technology provides cross-field solutions for Micro LED direct display and high computing power chip packaging, and the glass-based full-process industry chain preparation equipment capabilities are required to be higher.

From "technological exploration" to "industrial explosion", through 15 years of development, Woge Optoelectronics is rewriting the competition rules of the display industry by focusing on continuous iteration and technological innovation with glass as the core. With the launch of iconic products such as the 32-inch girlfriend phone, its strategic blueprint of "new materials + precision devices + system solutions" has become increasingly clear, and a new display ecology based on glass as the carrier has begun to take shape. A complete set of mature glass-based solutions will help brand customers launch more cost-effective products while providing consumers with a better product experience.
