Nanolumens and AU Optronics develop MicroLED display

On May 8, US LED display company Nanolumens announced that it has reached a strategic partnership with AUO Display Plus. This cooperation will be based on Nanolumens' professional capabilities in creative LED display design and integration and AUO Display Plus' technical capabilities in Micro LED and commercial display manufacturing fields to jointly create customized display systems for transportation, corporate offices, retail, public art and cultural institutions and other industries.

Nanolumens stated that this cooperation will integrate the R&D resources of both parties to develop new transparent, large-size and high-performance display solutions, and the products will be able to be integrated into the architectural environment. AUO Display Plus stated that the company is committed to working with partners to create an innovative ecosystem and promote smarter and more immersive visual communication. This cooperation will allow both parties to accelerate the launch of new display technology solutions to meet the diverse needs of the modern environment.

It is reported that the two parties will display the results of the cooperation for the first time at the InfoComm 2025 exhibition to be held from June 11 to 13, 2025.

Information shows that Nanolumens was founded in 2006 and is a LED design and manufacturing company headquartered in the United States. It has a variety of series of LED displays, including Nixel series, Engage series, Mesh displays, etc. Its products cover a variety of models with pixel pitches from 0.93mm to 10mm, and can create LED displays of different shapes such as flat, curved or cylindrical. Nanolumens' products are mainly sold in the United States and Canada, and are expanding into markets in Europe, the Middle East, Australia and South America.

As a subsidiary of AU Optronics, AUO Display Plus is a provider of industrial and commercial display solutions, focusing on applying smart displays to multiple vertical fields such as enterprise, education, medical, retail and transportation. It has a variety of display technologies, including HiRaso display technology using cholesteric liquid crystal (ChLCD), TARTAN display technology, curved display technology using AMVA panels, A.R.T. advanced anti-reflective technology, TFT X-ray sensing technology, optical TFT fingerprint scanning sensing technology, etc.

It is worth noting that AU Optronics has been actively developing Micro LED technology in recent years. At the Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition last month, AU Optronics exhibited a variety of Micro LED products, including the world's largest single Micro LED module created with brand customers, a full range of Micro LED TVs in cooperation with Samsung Electronics, and the world's first thinnest 17.3-inch double-sided transparent Micro LED display.
In the field of smart cockpits, AUO exhibited a variety of in-vehicle display solutions based on Micro LED technology, such as phantom panoramic canopies, XR interactive smart windows, multi-form central control displays, hidden smart driving interfaces, unbounded transparent display interfaces, and foldable touch displays, created with the group company BHTC.
