According to news on March 12, the technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (March 11), reporting that at the 2026 World Mobile Communications Conference (MWC), Google executive Dieter Bohn showed off a prototype of Android XR smart glasses.
In terms of core interaction, Dieter Bohn demonstrated that the AndroidXR smart glasses prototype supports real-time cross-language translation and smooth video calls. The glasses are equipped with a single display and are deeply integrated with Google's latest Gemini 3 multi-modal large model, giving the glasses excellent visual understanding capabilities. Users can deeply interact with the surrounding environment through simple voice commands.
One of the highlights of this demonstration is visual navigation. Dieter Bohn demonstrated the "Gaze as Navigation" function at the scene: when he looked at a poster with a football field printed on it and asked for walking directions, Gemini quickly recognized the destination and projected navigation arrows directly into the lens field of view. When the user lowers his head and looks down, the system will automatically call out a detailed map.
In addition to navigation, the glasses also perform well in multimedia processing and AI creation. It can accurately identify music album covers and link to YouTube Music to play related tracks.
In terms of image processing, the glasses integrate Nano Banana technology. After users take photos of the scene, they can instruct AI to "reconstruct" the photos, such as replacing ordinary buildings in the background with Barcelona's famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral.
Regarding the final form of the product, Dieter Bohn made it clear that what is currently on display is only a prototype. For vision correction needs, the prototype used a clip-on myopia lens solution during the MWC demonstration, but he emphasized that this design will not appear in the final mass production version.
