Using Nichia's high-power UV LED, Miura Industrial creates efficient water sterilization equipment

Recently, industrial boiler manufacturer MIURA CO., LTD. announced that it will start selling mercury-free water sterilization equipment equipped with Nichia's self-developed high-power UV-LED in August 2024. The equipment has received a large number of orders from customers in multiple industries such as cosmetics, chemistry, machinery and electronics.

It is reported that Nichia’s high-power UV-LED technology has an industry-leading photoelectric conversion efficiency (wall-plug efficiency) of 7.4%. This increases the maximum treatment water flow rate of Miura Industrial's UV-LED water sterilization equipment by 25% compared to previous models, reaching 10 cubic meters/hour, while reducing power consumption by up to 7.6%.

Nichia Chemical stated that innovation in high-power UV-LED technology is expected to further expand the application scope of mercury-free UV-LED water sterilization equipment, improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental burden. Miura Industrial stated that it will continue to develop products suitable for a wider range of uses and capable of processing larger amounts of water in the future, and continue to promote the goal of achieving a mercury-free society.
