Skyworth Official Announcement: Fully Taking Over Panasonic’s TV Business

On February 23, Skyworth and Panasonic officially reached a global strategic partnership.

According to the cooperation agreement, Skyworth will rely on its own manufacturing strength, R&D resources, global channels and efficient operation capabilities to be fully responsible for the production, sales, marketing and channel expansion of Panasonic brand TVs in the global market; Panasonic will focus on core imaging technology research and development, product definition and quality control, continuing its consistent high-end audio-visual standards. The two parties will carry out joint development in the field of high-end OLED models.

According to Nikkei Asia, in the face of an increasingly fierce market, Panasonic has previously had the idea of selling its TV business. In October 2025, its CEO hinted that a solution was on the horizon. Sources say: "This agreement with Skyworth is the key to Panasonic's exit from this business segment."

Panasonic's high-end, high-profit TVs are mostly produced by its own factories in Taiwan and Malaysia. At the same time, the company has begun to reorganize the production of low-priced small and medium-sized models and models exclusively for the European market, outsourcing them to Chinese TV manufacturer TCL and other companies.

In the future, Skyworth and Panasonic will focus on in-depth collaboration in core areas such as high-end OLED, Mini LED, intelligent system integration, and image quality algorithms, and deeply explore key global markets such as Europe and North America.

It is worth mentioning that the influence of Japanese companies in the television field is gradually fading. Sony announced in January this year that it would outsource its TV business to a joint venture led by TCL; other Japanese electronics manufacturers such as Sharp and Toshiba have also transferred control of their TV business to overseas companies.
