Samsung's long-term cooperation with Pixar Animation Studios is also driving the improvement of HDR movie content standards. Pixar's latest animated film "Elio" will be presented in 4K cinematic HDR format, perfectly compatible with Samsung onyx LED cinema screens. Pixar also plans to install the latest onyx LED cinema screens at its campus in California, USA, for HDR color and brightness evaluation, content quality testing, and demonstration screenings for filmmakers to further optimize onyx’s compatibility with high-quality HDR film productions.
Pixar says its animated films are intended to be experienced in HDR on theatrical HDR displays such as onyx. There are also plans to install new onyx LED displays at its campus in Emeryville, California. Pixar's films make extensive use of color and light, making them particularly suitable forHDR. The studio has long released its movies in HDR for home viewing. Only about 100 cinemas around the world are currently equipped to screen DCI HDR movies.
With the launch of onyx LED movie screens in the European market, Samsung Electronics is expected to reshape the movie-watching experience in European theaters and push the movie industry towards a higher-quality visual experience. In the future, Samsung will continue its innovative development trajectory and continue to bring more surprises to the global film market.
