Lumen Smart LED is a start-up project originating from the Kickstarter platform. Compared with WIFI-based smart light bulbs such as Philips Hue, Lumen Smart LED adopts the Bluetooth standard, so no additional connector is required and can be controlled directly using a mobile phone.
Functions and features
The setup of Lumen Smart LED is very simple. You only need to connect the light bulb to the lamp, download the application on your phone, and you can start pairing, eliminating the need to connect the WIFI light bulb to the router. Once connected, you can use the app to control it, supporting iOS and Android devices. The application is very intuitive, and the color selection area on the home screen allows you to freely adjust the color of the bulb, switch it on or off, or turn on/off the RGB mode.
In addition, Lumen Smart LED also has a wealth of modes and preset functions, including:
- Two party modes can shuffle lights with different mechanisms
- Romantic mode can flash between yellow, orange, and red, presumably to simulate candlelight
- Relaxation mode is similar to romantic mode, but the colors are concentrated in blue, green, and purple
- Alert mode will flash a certain color when you have an incoming call
-Music synchronization mode can be synchronized with the music played on the mobile phone
-Proximity mode can automatically turn on or off the light according to the distance between the mobile phone and the bulb
-Morning mode will slowly turn on the light in the morning to help you wake up
Performance
Lumen Smart The LED has a brightness of 400 lumens, which is about the same brightness as a 40W incandescent bulb, but is still a bit dimmer compared to Philips Hue's 600 lumens. Of course, the price of Lumen Smart LED is lower, so the performance is acceptable. The advantage of Lumen Smart LED is a wider color range and more accurate hues, which can achieve more vivid lighting, especially in scenes such as "party mode" that require rich color effects.
The biggest problem with Lumen Smart LED is the limitation of Bluetooth connection. Because it does not use the WIFI standard, it cannot use Zigbee or Z-wave automation standards, so it cannot be linked with other IoT devices such as WIFI speakers and home monitoring systems, and its scalability is poor.
