Inventronics jointly develops planting containers to lay out the vertical agricultural lighting market

According to the official WeChat account of Inventronics on April 1, the company recently joined hands with vertical farming companies Greatit and Encapsulite to develop special planting containers and use aerosol cultivation technology to cultivate basil and other crops. This solution not only maximizes energy efficiency, but also minimizes environmental impact.

It is understood that the project has been launched in Brescia, Italy in March 2024. The overall system is designed based on a standard container structure and has a certain degree of mobility. Its core goal is to shorten the distance of the agricultural product supply chain, thereby improving supply efficiency.

In terms of key lighting configuration, the system uses MT30 LED RD Horti and PL-LIN-Hybrid-LV LED light panels. The distance between the light source and the crops is controlled at about 30 cm to balance light intensity and energy consumption in a limited space.

From the perspective of cooperation and division of labor, Encapsulite and Encapsulite Electronics are mainly responsible for the provision and optimization of lighting solutions, focusing on improving system energy efficiency and adapting to the aerosol cultivation environment; Greatit selects and applies relevant solutions based on the comprehensive balance between energy consumption and cost.

Judging from the actual operation results, the system can support the normal growth of basil and improve crop consistency to a certain extent. Project feedback shows that light uniformity has a certain impact on crop form and flavor, but the overall planting effect still depends on the coordinated regulation of temperature, humidity, nutrient supply and other factors.

Extending from a single project to the industry level, the plant lighting market has gradually shown a recovery trend in recent years. In 2024, driven by the recovery in demand for LED lighting in greenhouses, which mainly focus on fruit and vegetable cultivation, and the release of new demand driven by the investment and construction of small and medium-sized vertical farms, the market size will achieve restorative growth. According to TrendForce consulting data, the global LED plant lighting market will reach US$1.315 billion in 2024, a year-on-year growth of 6.6%.

Entering 2025, the industry will continue its growth trend. TrendForce pointed out in the "2025 Global LED Lighting Market Trends - Data Database and Manufacturer Strategies - 2H25" report that the European market will maintain rapid growth in the first half of 2025 (1H25), driven by energy-saving regulations and the accelerated introduction of high photosynthetic photon flux efficiency (PPE) products.

Against the background of the gradual recovery of the industry, Inventronics is also accelerating its layout. In November 2025, Inventron announced that it planned to invest 13.44 million yuan in Qinghai Chunnuan Huakai Biotechnology Co., Ltd. through its wholly-owned subsidiary Hangzhou Inventronics Equity Investment Co., Ltd., and acquire the entire equity of Hangzhou Bincao Biotechnology Co., Ltd. for 1.56 million yuan, with a total investment of 15 million yuan to enter the field of modern plant lighting.

Information shows that Chunnuanhuakai was established in February 2024 with a registered capital of 50 million yuan. It is led by a team of returned biomedical engineering doctoral students. It is committed to integrating LED spectrum regulation, environmental control and biotechnology, and providing an overall solution of "source + intelligent equipment + technical management" to the big health industry. However, the company has not yet achieved revenue.

Overall, Inventronics' investment in Chunnuanhuakai, on the one hand, focuses on the long-term growth potential of the LED plant lighting market, and on the other hand, it also reflects its judgment on the development trend of intelligent plant lighting, aiming to speed up the improvement of related products and system solution layout to cope with changes in future market demand.
