Exclusive interview: Mojie Technology’s full-link R&D and manufacturing capabilities help make AR glasses lightweight

With the deep integration of AI and wearable devices and the promotion of major manufacturers, TrendForce predicts that global AR glasses shipments will jump to 950,000 units in 2026, with an annual growth rate of 53%. The weight of AR glasses is a key factor affecting user experience. Therefore, the lightweighting of AR glasses will become a key driving force to promote the entire industry to the masses and achieve large-scale popularization.

TrendForce recently had the honor to have an in-depth exchange with Mr. Huang Weizheng, Marketing Director of Mojie Technology, and learned about Mojie Technology's latest product and technological progress.

Meta-Bounds was established on November 23, 2021. It is a high-tech enterprise focusing on AR core technology and high-precision mass production manufacturing. It currently operates simultaneously in Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Hong Kong, Wuhu, and Jiangyin, and is deploying globally to Silicon Valley in the United States, Singapore and other places. The company's founding team has been focusing on the AR field for many years, mastering many core technologies such as optical display and sensory interaction.

Resin diffraction optical waveguide technology leads the world

Mojie's world's first resin diffraction optical waveguide has all-round technological leadership in design, materials and processes, and maintains the highest level in the industry in terms of optical effects, thinness, impact resistance and other aspects.

Compared with glass wafers and SiC wafers, resin wafers have obvious advantages in terms of weight, safety and cost. The resin optical waveguide made of it is lighter and can significantly reduce the overall weight of AR glasses, thereby effectively improving the user's wearing comfort. The resin optical waveguide has stronger impact resistance, which can ensure the safety of users in use scenarios and effectively extend the service life of AR glasses.

In terms of resin wafer size, Mojie has achieved a jump from 8 inches to 12 inches. A single 8-inch wafer can produce 6 to 8 optical waveguides, while a single 12-inch wafer can produce 15 to 20 pieces. This leap greatly increases production capacity and effectively reduces production costs. In terms of the refractive index of resin wafers, Mojie has successfully reached a high level of above 1.7 and is expected to achieve further breakthroughs within this year.

Full-link R&D and manufacturing capabilities help make AR glasses lightweight

With the world's first resin diffraction optical waveguide technology as the core, Mojie Technology has built full-link R&D and manufacturing capabilities from core optical devices and optical systems to complete machine mass production and delivery, providing key support for partners to create AR products that are both high-performance, lightweight and mass-producible. Mojie Technology has reached cooperation with well-known domestic and foreign brands such as Lenovo, OPPO and SoftBank Group, and jointly launched a number of landmark consumer-grade AR glasses.

At CES 2026, Mojie Technology exhibited "25g world's lightest fashionable personalized AI+AR glasses" and "38g world's lightest full-color full-function AI+AR glasses".

Mojie Technology’s 25g world’s lightest and fashionable personalized AI+AR glasses rely on Mojie’s first resin diffractive light guide technology, which reduces weight by 50% compared to traditional solutions. This solution uses a single-eye, single-green Micro LED light machine, combined with Mojie's world's first full lamination technology, making the optical waveguide transmittance as high as 98%.

Mojie Technology’s 38g world’s lightest full-color, full-function AI+AR glasses redefine the design standards of binocular full-color AI+AR, achieving the perfect unification of “full-function configuration and lightweight form” for the first time in the global industry. The optical system of this solution uses a high-refractive index resin optical waveguide and a single-chip full-color Micro LED light engine, which not only achieves full-color display, but also effectively suppresses the common rainbow pattern problem of diffractive optical waveguides.

As market demand continues to rise, Mojie Technology's production capacity in Zhuhai has been in short supply. The company said it has expanded production in Jiangyin and Wuhu. In addition, in order to further expand overseas markets, the company will also build new factories in Southeast Asia.

Future Outlook

Looking forward to the future, Mojie Technology stated that the company will continue to consolidate the underlying optical technology, deepen the full-link R&D and mass production capabilities, and join hands with more ecological partners to jointly promote the continuous breakthrough of AR products in lightweight wear and ultimate optical experience, so that the cutting-edge AR technology innovation represented by "Lighten by Meta-Bounds" can light up everyone's digital life.
