Recently, Kosutami, a well-known Apple intelligence sharer in the industry, revealed that Apple’s next-generation Vision headset may undergo major design changes, aiming to achieve a thinner and lighter body structure. It is reported that in order to achieve this goal, Apple plans to use titanium metal to replace traditional aluminum materials in the battery casing and specific structural parts, and also introduce a new midnight blue color scheme.
It is worth mentioning that this new device may be named "Vision Air", which indicates a significant improvement in portability and user experience. Although the density of titanium metal is higher than that of aluminum, its excellent specific strength, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance and high temperature performance make titanium show unique advantages in lightweight design. Specifically:
High specific strength: Titanium materials can meet strength requirements through thinner sections or less material usage under the same load, effectively offsetting density disadvantages and even achieving further reductions in structural weight.
Improved durability: Titanium’s fatigue and corrosion resistance eliminates the need for additional reinforcement or protective layers during the design process, thus contributing to thinner and lighter product designs.
.
Efficient thermal management: The high-temperature performance advantages of titanium eliminate the need for bulky thermal insulation measures, directly reducing the overall weight of the thermal management system.
In addition, Kosutami further revealed more details about the new device. He pointed out that in addition to using titanium material, the next generation Vision headset may also undergo deeper hardware reconstruction, including adopting a new interface design similar to the Lightning interface style, reducing the number of pins from the original 12 to 8, and introducing a fashionable color scheme of midnight blue.
Based on early leaks, Apple plans to release a new generation of Vision Pro in the second half of this year, and the headset will be upgraded to an M5 chip. In addition, there are reports that Apple is also developing an affordable version of the head display, which is likely to be the aforementioned Vision Air.
