Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute achieves "zero" breakthrough in the field of national key R&D plan projects

Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology officially issued a notice for the 2022 project approval of the national key R&D plan "National Quality Infrastructure System". The "Mini/Micro LED direct display ultra-high-definition display NQI key technology integrated application demonstration" led by the Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

It is understood that this project is led by the Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute and jointly undertaken by eight units including the China Institute of Metrology, China Institute of Standardization, Xiamen University, Shenzhen Lehman Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd., Xiamen Teyi Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Institute of Technology, Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association, and Jiageng Innovation Laboratory. There are five sub-topics in total, with a total funding of 13.8 million yuan. This is the only national key R&D plan project led by the Fujian Provincial Market Supervision System since the national science and technology plan management reform in 2014. It is also the only project in Fujian Province that has been approved among the 68 key "National Quality Infrastructure System" projects nationwide this year.

According to data, the annual output value of my country's LED display screens has exceeded 65 billion yuan in 2021, accounting for 80% of the world's total, but Mini/Micro LED direct display screens are only 1.55 billion yuan. Since Mini/Micro LED display has surpassed other display technologies in terms of brightness, contrast, color gamut, response time, scalability and other performances, currently, ultra-high-definition Mini/Micro LED display combined with 8K+5G technology has become the development trend of the new generation of information display technology.

According to the relevant person in charge of Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute, due to the imperfect quality infrastructure system of relevant countries, the current Mini/Micro LED There are many quality bottlenecks in industrial development. In this regard, this project starts from the chip degradation mechanism to develop intelligent high-precision detection and calibration instruments, combined with integrated metrology technology and detection and evaluation standard system research, to break through the technical bottlenecks of "poor calibration", "inaccurate measurement" and "inaccurate judgment" in the future display industry, and promote the revolutionary development of the new generation display industry; build a "Mini/Micro LED ultra-high definition display NQI integrated application online demonstration platform" to innovate online and offline NQI The integrated application of key technologies demonstrates a new model of sustainable development, providing quality and technical support for my country's transformation from a "display power" to a "display power".

According to reports, for a long time, Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute has insisted on promoting inspection through science and technology, closely followed the regional industrial layout, actively promoted industry-university-research-inspection cooperation, served the transformation and upgrading of the industry, and embarked on a path of strong inspection to enhance inspection capabilities through scientific research. The successful establishment of this project has achieved a new breakthrough in the scientific and technological innovation work of Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute, and is an important manifestation of its ability to host national-level scientific research projects. Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute will take this opportunity to work hard to promote scientific research to a new level.

It is also understood that so far, Xiamen Quality Inspection Institute has led nearly 130 national-level scientific and technological research and development projects, including 6 projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 2 projects of the National Foundation Commission, and 1 project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. It has formulated and revised nearly 170 standards, and authorized nearly 50 patents. It has won more than 10 honors, including the second prize of Fujian Province Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of Fujian Province Standard Contribution Award, and the third prize of Xiamen Science and Technology Progress Award.
