Luminus Devices Announcement: I am pleased to announce that Dr. Shao Jiaping will join Luminus on November 1, 2023 as the general manager of the Asia Pacific region, responsible for the daily operations and management of China and Malaysia. Dr. Shao Jiaping has profound academic foundation and rich industrial practical experience in the field of III-V compound semiconductor optoelectronic materials and devices. He is a well-known LED technology expert in China. In recent years, he has also made outstanding exploration work in the field of automotive-grade lidar LiDAR.

The research fields cover the research and industrial application of LED lighting and display optoelectronic devices, SiC power materials and devices, GaAs and GaN-based radio frequency materials and devices, MEMS devices and systems (automotive-grade lidar LiDAR).

Dr. Shao graduated from Tsinghua University in Beijing with a PhD in electronic engineering. He has more than 23 years of rich R&D experience in the LED/nitride materials industry.

As a core member of the team of Academician Luo Yi of Tsinghua University, Dr. Shao has undertaken major scientific research projects related to the “Tenth Five-Year Plan” to the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” 863 and related projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Shandong Province and Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The team has won the first prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award and the first prize of Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award.

Before joining Luminus, Dr. Shao served as Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Beijing Yijing Technology Co., Ltd., leading the company's commercial team focusing on passenger vehicles/commercial vehicles, autonomous driving, advanced driver assistance systems and business development areas. During his tenure, he has been in the leading position in mass production of MEMS devices and systems for automotive-grade, high-precision, high-resolution, and wide-viewing-angle lidar LiDAR together with the Yijing team since 2021.

From 2016 to 2021, Dr. Shao served as Global Head of Sales at OSRAM Opto Semiconductors GmbH.

Prior to joining Osram in 2007 Worked at Cree until 2016. During his tenure, he made outstanding contributions to representative projects such as the 2008 Beijing Olympics Water Cube and Bird's Nest Landscape Lighting Project, the 2009 "Ten Cities Ten Thousand Lights" LED Street Light Demonstration Project, the 2010 Shanghai World Expo China Pavilion/Oil Cube Project, the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games Haixinsha Project, the 2011 Shenzhen Universiade Main Stadium and other representative projects. He is a domestic LED One of the pioneers in the large-scale application and promotion of the lighting and display industry, he participated in the formulation and drafting of a number of important national and industry standards. He served as the Sales General Manager of China from 2013 to 2016, leading a team focusing on high-power LEDs for lighting applications and high-brightness LEDs for projection and video walls.

Dr. Shao also serves as a technical consultant to well-known industrial organizations and has been invited to deliver keynote speeches at more than 120 domestic and foreign industrial forums. He is also currently a part-time consulting professor at Guangdong Sun Yat-sen University. In addition, he has published more than 30 papers in SCI and EI.
