LG will supply 40-inch Mini LED car screens to Sony Honda

LG Display said on the 24th that it will supply 40-inch full-cabin width automotive displays to Sony Honda Mobile Company, which can completely cover the area in front of the driver's seat and passenger seat.

LG Display said that P2P automotive screens are part of a plan to promote the era of "software-defined vehicles" and will achieve this goal by expanding the production of high-end automotive screens.

According to LG Display, the screen can simultaneously display infotainment functions such as dashboard, navigation, climate control, and play movies, music, and games. Unlike existing automotive displays, P2P screens can display these functions at the same time without switching screens, and the use of one function will not limit the display of other functions.

This display also uses switchable privacy mode viewing angle control technology to help drivers concentrate on driving. LG Display says that when this mode is enabled, passengers can watch movies or play games without the content being visible to the driver.

LG Display uses low-temperature polycrystalline silicon thin film technology for this Mini LED LCD panel. In addition, the P2P screen supports regional dimming, which can reduce the brightness of specific areas and save power when not in use.

This P2P display will be first installed on AFEELA, the first sedan of the Japanese joint venture Sony Honda Mobility, which will combine Sony's infotainment technology and Honda's automobile manufacturing expertise.
