LED lights are installed in vegetable greenhouses, making melon farmers and fruits happy.

Wang Zuoming, a farmer from the Yonghe Vegetable Professional Cooperative in Liulang Town, Wuhu County, is hanging LED lights in his tomato greenhouse. He told reporters that this is called a plant fill light, and it is a "new gadget" used to promote the growth of seedlings. Wang Zhihao, a researcher at the Municipal Agricultural Committee, said that this is the first time our city has tried to use plant fill lights to improve crop yield and quality, and it is still in the experimental stage.

The plant fill light in the hands of the reporter looks very ordinary. The white lamp tube is no different from an energy-saving lamp. How does it work? Agricultural technology experts said that there are two major factors that affect the growth of crops, one is temperature and the other is light. The former is more expensive to control, while the latter is more economical and effective. The sunshine time in winter and spring in our city is relatively short, and the crops in the greenhouse grow slowly and the yield is reduced. Especially when it encounters continuous rain, it is even more unfavorable to crop growth, as seedlings are in poor condition and suffer from many diseases. The application of plant supplementary light, by adjusting the light intensity and light band, can not only meet the lighting conditions required for normal plant growth, promote vegetable growth, advance the market, increase production and income, but also appropriately increase the greenhouse temperature, reduce humidity, reduce the occurrence of diseases, reduce medication and labor, and reduce production costs. Moreover, the cost of such an LED light is only a few dozen yuan, and 10 of them are enough for an ordinary-sized tent. After use, it is expected that early spring seedlings can be raised 10 days earlier, and the seedling growth rate will be significantly improved; vegetables will go to market 7 days earlier; and early yields will increase by 15%.

Experts from the Committee of Agriculture said that our city is currently applying this new technology to solanaceous fruits, leafy vegetables and seedling crops in advance. It will be turned on when natural light is insufficient, and the results will be investigated after about a month. Agricultural technicians conduct controlled experiments based on the growth speed and quality of various crops to explore the optimal application method. It is understood that after the project matures, the city's agricultural department will combine it with other agricultural new technologies to form a cultivation technology model suitable for our city's vegetable production, promote and apply it, so as to comprehensively enhance our city's winter standardized seedling production, improve greenhouse vegetable production conditions in winter and spring, promote agricultural development, and help farmers increase production and income.
