Exclusive interview: GENTOS continues to provide high-quality and reliable flashlight products to the global market

GENTOS, a flashlight manufacturer from Japan, was founded in 1978. It specializes in providing high-quality, high-reliability LED flashlights, headlights, work lights, lanterns, table lamps, bicycle lights and other 185 products, with sales points all over the world.

TrendForce had the honor to interview Takumi Furukawa, the head of the product planning department of GENTOS, and Hiroshi Sato, the manager of the overseas sales department, to explain the company's product advantages and sales promotion strategies.

Mr. Furukawa emphasized that all GENTOS products comply with ANSI FL1 standards (standard items include lumens/running time/beam distance/luminous intensity [cd]/impact resistance/waterproof level/dustproof effect, etc.). In order to ensure product safety and reliability, GENTOS will conduct three additional tests, namely wire durability, switch durability, and durability of product printed text. In addition, GENTOS also develops unique products of high quality, such as lamps that project beautiful ring beams and flashlights with patented built-in focus control.

Furukawa also said that Nichia is the company's main LED light source supplier, and its excellent LED products meet GENTOS's requirements for quality and reliability. Through Nichia's flip-chip technology and high-power LED design, GENTOS products have high brightness, high light quality, high reliability, and can also achieve characteristics such as wide color temperature and uniform light. In addition, its flashlight products are also compatible with 90-95 high color rendering light sources. GENTOS and Nichia are currently cooperating to develop a new laser diode flashlight, which is expected to be released in the near future.

In terms of lantern design, GENTOS released a new 1,800K (flame color) lantern this spring. Utilizing Nichia's LED phosphor technology, the lantern can present a flame-like lighting effect.

GENTOS's products are widely recognized in the Japanese market, which has extremely high quality requirements. It has a solid position in the domestic market and is currently actively developing overseas markets. GENTOS has cooperated with Taiwanese manufacturer Changkuan Trading since 2020, striving to develop the Taiwan market. As the economy recovers, market demand is expected to increase steadily.
