Epistar, a major Taiwanese LED chip manufacturer, recently announced that it will invest approximately NT$512 million to purchase 11 million common shares of Malaysian LED packaging factory Dominant Opto Technologies, acquiring a 10% stake. The company is one of the important suppliers in the LED automotive lighting market. Epistar has signed an investment agreement with Dominant Opto Technologies to actively expand the automotive lighting LED market.

Osram Opto Semiconductors has considerable investment in Malaysia and is one of the important drivers of Malaysia’s LED packaging industry. Dominant was established in Malaysia in 2000. It is a major SMT LED manufacturer. Its main product is automotive lighting. Its sales customers are all major global car manufacturers, including car manufacturers in North America, Germany, Japan, South Korea and China. Its production bases are in Malaysia and Laos in Indochina.
Jingdron hopes to strengthen the layout of each other's business strategies through virtual cooperation by investing in Malaysian LED packaging factories. This will be quite helpful for Epistar to enter the ASEAN and European and American markets.
