Comptek receives 8 million euros in financing to accelerate Micro LED technology layout

On August 15, according to external news, Comptek Solution, a III-V compound semiconductor surface treatment technology provider headquartered in Finland, announced that the company has successfully completed Series A financing and received financing of 8 million euros (approximately RMB 63.674 million). Investors include Horizon Europe EIC Fund, Italian venture capital company LIFTT and an undisclosed key strategic partner of Comptek.

The funds from this round of financing will be used to accelerate Comptek’s technology implementation and expand its growth scale. According to the data, Comptek was founded in 2017 and is a subsidiary of the University of Turku in Finland. It is committed to developing passivation technology used in the fields of optoelectronics and power supply.

Comptek has developed a new surface treatment process - Kontrox, which effectively passivates the material surface by forming a high-quality native crystalline oxide layer with a very low density of surface defect states.

In the field of Micro LED, Kontrox technology can be applied to the sidewalls of Micro LED chips to effectively passivate the surface to prevent the inefficiency of Micro LED caused by non-radiative recombination mechanisms. This technology can greatly improve the performance and yield of Micro LED.

Currently, Comptek is developing prototypes of passivation tools and conducting pilot cooperation with customers. Last year, Comptek also received funding from the European Innovation Council to build a pilot line to combine Kontrox technology with other technologies such as atomic layer deposition (ALD) on 8-inch substrates to meet application needs in the fields of Micro LED and power electronics.
