"Super Screen" innovation, leading the way
Do you know how a large number of highly acclaimed science fiction blockbusters were produced?
The audience may think of a scene in their minds: actors stand in front of a "green screen" to perform without physical objects. Post-production staff need to cut out the characters and replace the green screen with special effects. Indeed, green screen shooting was once one of the most advanced film technologies. However, with the advancement of technology, this shooting method has ushered in new changes.
The "Star Wars" spin-off American TV series "The Mandalorian" was one of the first works to use LED screens to replace green screens on a large scale, and it also aroused the audience's interest in virtual production technology. The most important part of virtual production is the use of LED background screens to replace the green screen background and create a realistic shooting scene.
"The Mandalorian" started the trend of XR virtual production, and Unilumin ROE provided LED display products and virtual shooting services for the gathering.
Nowadays, when walking into the studio of Wuxi National Digital Film Industrial Park, a large screen stands in front of people.
It is 44 meters long, 10 meters high, and 23 meters in diameter. It is in the shape of a large arc.
Standing under this screen, I felt a sense of immersion. What was displayed on the screen that day was a cosmic scene. In a large crimson nebula, a huge blue planet shone with mysterious light. It made people feel like they were in the vast sea of stars, and their hearts were filled with shock.
The person in charge of the park said that this LED virtual studio uses the Black Pearl 2V2 (referred to as BP2V2) LED developed by Unilumin ROE specifically for film and television shooting. In the field of virtual production, it is currently the industry's most industrial-level system that can satisfy the needs of virtual production. It is a product that meets the needs of real-world display color, stability and lens performance. Its display color, stability and lens performance can meet the requirements of virtual shooting to the greatest extent among all current market products.
National Standards Joint Laboratory for Future Films
This "super screen" is also created by the "ace team" of Chinese films - the China Institute of Film Science and Technology.
As a national-level film scientific research, testing and certification institution under the leadership of the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee, the China Film Research Institute has always aimed at one goal: to persist in independent innovation in key and core film technologies and to achieve key breakthroughs Problems restricting the development of the film industry and accelerating the realization of high-level technological self-reliance.
In the "5G Smart Virtual Photography Joint Laboratory" built by both parties, China's largest "movie-level giant screen shooting screen" was born, and it also has the country's largest movie-level 5G smart virtual studio, as well as the country's first "AIGC + film and television shooting and production" innovation center. At the same time, the laboratory has participated in the completion of the "National Key R&D Plan" and "Virtual Preliminary Reference Framework for Film and Television Production" standard projects.
Currently, the "5G Smart Virtual Photography Joint Laboratory" has already booked some key films for filming, which can be said to have shocked the industry as soon as it was launched.
