On the afternoon of April 28, Shenzhen Huaxing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. signed a contract with Hubei Science and Technology Investment Group Co., Ltd. in Han to establish Wuhan Huaxing Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. to build the 6th generation LTPS (OXIDE) LCD/AMOLED display panel production line in Zuoling Industrial Park of East Lake High-tech Zone, with a total project investment of 16 billion yuan. This marks that Optics Valley has introduced an important new force towards the goal of building a 100 billion display and chip industry.

According to reports, my country is the world's largest consumer of display panel products, but 70% of display panels rely on imports, and the display industry is experiencing a blowout development trend. Currently, the total market volume of small and medium-sized display panels has exceeded that of large-sized TVs, becoming the largest market segment in the display field. With the advent of the mobile Internet era, the number of portable mobile terminals continues to grow rapidly, and small and medium-sized display panels show a broader market prospect.
The first phase of the Wuhan Huaxing Optoelectronics display panel project has a designed production capacity of 30,000 pieces per month. The glass substrate size is 1500mm × 1850mm. The product is positioned as a high-end small and medium-sized flat panel display. It produces 3-7 inch display modules for mobile phones and 6-12 inch display modules for tablets. Construction is planned to start in the fourth quarter of this year and mass production will be by the end of 2016. After reaching capacity, it will produce approximately 88 million display panels or modules annually, with an output value exceeding 10 billion yuan.
At present, more than 20 companies have been introduced to the Optics Valley display industry, and a relatively complete optoelectronic display industry chain has been initially formed, including equipment, main raw materials, panels, modules, and terminal products. The settlement of the CSOT project will help Optics Valley further strengthen its strength in the field of optoelectronic displays and accelerate the creation of "China's small and medium-sized flat panel display panel R&D and industrial base."
