Apple's commercial MicroLED display will be available as soon as 2024, and will be first used in smart watches

March 14 news, according to media reports, Apple will commercialize MicroLED displays as soon as 2024, and this display will first be used in smart watches.

MicroLED technology is an emerging technology that is superior to OLED technology in terms of brightness and clarity. It may bring better display effects, not only on TVs, but also on smartphones and smart watches.

MicroLED displays are less likely to burn out over time, have faster response times, and feature low latency, providing better energy efficiency and longer battery life. It will make future devices thinner, brighter, and more power-efficient than OLED displays.

Since acquiring MicroLED startup LuxVue in 2014, Apple has been actively developing MicroLED technology.

Media reports say that because the production of such displays is still challenging and manufacturing costs are higher, Apple plans to first use MicroLED displays on the Apple Watch Ultra smartwatch, and then expand the technology to iPhones, iPads and MacBooks.

In early January this year, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu said that Apple will launch an Apple Watch with a MicroLED display in 2024.

A week later, display analyst Ross Young revealed that the first Apple Watch with a MicroLED display will be launched in the spring of 2025.

In addition, an analyst who has long followed Apple also said that the transition to MicroLED displays may begin before the end of 2024, but he also noted that this time frame may be delayed to 2025.

The latest reports indicate that the new Apple Watch Ultra with MicroLED display will be launched in 2024 or 2025.
