According to well-known analyst Ross Young, Apple is developing a 27-inch Mini LED display, which is expected to be launched next year. This display will use Mini LED provided by Epistar and a panel provided by LG Display. The resolution is expected to remain at 5120x2880, but the refresh rate has not yet been announced.
Compared with the current Studio Display, the new monitor may have an upgrade in performance. Previous reports pointed out that Gurman believes that Studio Display 2 will be equipped with a 90Hz screen, and at this stage only a few 5K displays support 72Hz or 75Hz refresh rates. Regardless of the actual refresh rate, however, the new display will be one of the first on the market to feature Mini LED technology.
It is worth noting that Apple has used or introduced Mini LED technology in its MacBook Pro and iPad Pro product lines. Compared with traditional LED displays, Mini LED displays have higher brightness, better contrast, and more accurate color performance.
It is reported that the new Studio Display will continue Apple’s consistent simple design style and be equipped with a USB-C port to facilitate the connection of external devices. As for pricing and other details, they are currently unknown.
