On May 15, at the ROG DAY 2026 conference, ASUS ROG Republic of Gamers officially launched the new AR glasses product ROG XREAL R1 jointly with XREAL. The product is priced at 5,999 yuan. Reservations are currently open and it is planned to be available for sale on June 12.
ROG XREAL R1 uses an FHD Micro OLED display panel with an official nominal refresh rate of up to 240Hz and a response time of 0.01ms. The device can present a 171-inch virtual screen at an equivalent distance of about 4 meters, with a field of view of 57 degrees, a color gamut covering 106% sRGB, and a peak brightness of 700 nits.
At the hardware level, this product is equipped with XREAL's self-developed X1 spatial computing chip and X-Prism optical engine, supports 3DoF spatial anchoring function, and provides two display modes: anchoring and following. Users can fix the virtual screen at a certain location in space or keep it in front of their field of view.
In terms of other technical features, R1 is equipped with electrochromic lenses, supports three-stage manual dimming, and can adjust the lens transparency according to ambient light. The device also has a 2D to 3D real-time conversion function, and the audio part uses a Bose tuning solution.
In terms of connection compatibility, R1 can be connected to ROG Ally handheld devices, iPhone and Android devices through the USB-C interface. The ROG Control Dock included in the set is equipped with a DisplayPort 1.4 interface and two HDMI 2.0 interfaces. It can be connected to host devices such as PC, PS5, and Xbox, and can switch between different signal sources through buttons.
In terms of product design, the device weighs 91 grams. It supports adjustable nose pads, multi-angle elastic temples and IPD interpupillary distance adjustment. It also provides customized prescription lens services.
From the perspective of market positioning, ROG XREAL R1 is the first in-depth cooperation between ROG and XREAL in the field of AR game display. The 240Hz refresh rate is at a relatively high level among current consumer AR glasses products, and is mainly aimed at the picture smoothness requirements in gaming scenarios.
The price of 5,999 yuan is in the upper-middle range in the high-end AR glasses market, and its target user group is core players who pursue a portable large-screen gaming experience.
Some analysts pointed out that with the continued popularity of handheld games and console games, AR devices that can provide a portable giant screen experience are becoming a segmented track. However, the wearing comfort of AR glasses in actual use, the problem of visual fatigue caused by long-term use, and the completeness of the content ecology are still key factors affecting the market acceptance of such products.
